The Co is Born...
The N V O Clothing Collective was created by former art student, MaKayla Benjamin, under the influence of face masks that she hand sewed and sold during the uprising of the Covid-19 Pandemic. MaKayla, formerly known as Nuvo, has an extensive background in the retail and fashion industry, with modeling, sewing and design, retail management, creative directing, and wardrobe styling all under her belt. After gaining 11 years of experience under the direction of others, she decided to put her knowledge and talents to use by pursuing and building a career of her own.
A MESSAGE FROM THE CEO
In Memory of my loving, hardworking grandparents, Daniel & Dozell Mayshack
"I have to first give thanks to my maker and creator because I wouldn't have come as far as I have. I am forever grateful for all the opportunities I've been given that have lead me to this point, but this is only the beginning. I have been chasing this dream since I was a little girl. I was raised to be hands on and a hard worker. My grandfather taught us what hard labor was by keeping us outdoors; doing everything "the old school way". One Christmas, my mother purchased a kid's sewing machine for me and my grandmother would make me sew straight lines on old wash towels. I watched my mother construct all my childhood costumes and do various arts and crafts, like soap and candle making. We would go to the flea market on weekends and sell those candles and soaps. This took a major part in my work ethic and drive today and I strive to accomplish every goal I set in my grandparents honor. In all, I'm just a country girl with big dreams and I am so thankful for all of your support and encouragement throughout the years. So please continue to support me throughout my journey as I have some really great things in store for the future!"
